Hi All You Nice People,
My question to you is this: What is the etiquette in answering comments left on a blog? Does one have to respond to a comment? Would it be presumptuous of me to ask people to leave their e mail address when they leave a comment? If I had an e mail address and/or a blog address, I could respond to the comment. I try to spend my Sunday's reading the blogs on the Quiltville Blogring and I leave my comments every now and then. But, come to think of it, only a few have replied to my comments, but I do know that I read every one. And, I enjoy knowing that there are people out there, who I don't know, who are reading my blog. I have met some really great people through this blogging thing, from all over the world and I find it a great way to meet others. I just don't know what the "rules" are for this blogging or if there are any. Okay, that's it from me, just wanted to know so I don't hurt anyone's feelings. I am also taking this time to thank each and every person who has been by my blog and left a comment. Keep the piece, Renée

I don't know the answer to that either. I have only been blogging since April, and I'm still not sure of all the rules. I try to answer all comments, which I don't get nearly as many as some, but they still keep me busy. It they don't have an email on their profile page, I try to leave a message on one of their posts. I'll be interested to see the comments on this post.

Thank you Christine. I've been reading your blog for a while and enjoying it. Thanks for the CC praise. It's been sitting around since the mystery was over, but I just didn't feel the need to finish. But now, it is a gift for one of my Mom's friends, so I needed to finally finish. It goes off to the LA tomorrow, hopefully. Will snap a photo when I get it back. Renée

Hello Renee, I try and answer all the comments I get, even if it's only to say 'thank you for commenting' I know that not everyone does though, as I also don't get replies to comments from some people. It just seems like good manners to me to respond when someone has taken the time to comment. If someone is 'no-reply' it's difficult to respond. I guess some people choose not to receive replies, or have forgotten to tick the appropriate box.
That is an excellent question. I usually don't answer, but try to get to their blog to look in case there is something I would like to comment on in theirs. I don't go back and check that the "owner" has posted back to me...I guess since it's such a small group (the mystery quilters) that everyone is pleased when someone notices their post and says something encouraging. But, I'll be anxious to see what you get for feedback.

I generally only answer a comment if it is a question or an observation that calls for it. I do read all comments and enjoy them tremendously. However some bloggers have set their profile up in a way that will not show their e-mail and those I do not answer.
Just what I came up wiht, not necessarily neticet.
Your CC looks great, the colors are nice! I tend to reply to all my comments and also to add the commenter to my list of blog reads so I comment on them too. I think it is up to each person and what they feel like doing so do what moves you!
I LOVE your CC quilt! The colors are wonderful, it is amazing how this one quilt can look so different in other colors. Like you, I don't know what if proper and what is not, but I try and thank all that comment. I get so excited when people do, good or bad, that it is so nice to think someone took the time to write. It doesn't hurt my feelings at all if people don't acknowledge my comment. I know how busy everyone it. :D
Hi! I think it depends on what the person says to you in the comment. If they just say something like..love the quilt...or thanks for sharing..or great job..comments like that then I don't write back. Then there are times when someone asks a question or you click on their blog to see what they are about and you yourself want to write to them to strike up a conversation. I guess it all comes down to do what you want. It's your blog. It shouldn't become a chore...have fun!! :) That's my two cents...if ya wanna write to me then Hurray!! if not I enjoy reading your blog anyway.
